Guided by the desire to create a playful and joy-filled experience, Chalky Wrinkle Shape Shine brings together a diverse assortment of Harts' pillowy, soft sculpture paintings and Kadish's bold, geometric paintings. Hart and Kadish's works, installed in a creative and intuitive fashion, will fill Essex Art Center's Sidell and Beland Galleries and spill into the adjacent studios and corridor.
Chalky Wrinkle Shape Shine is curated by Essex Art Center's Executive Director, Monica Lynn Manoski, who said, "Working with Timothy and Jai has been so much fun. The artists have really responded to each other's work and are even working on a collaborative piece. I'm grateful that they've trusted me in the process and are willing to make a lot of the hanging decisions in real-time when we bring in the work in January."
There will be ample opportunity to engage with the artists during the exhibition's 8-week runtime. Hart and Kadish will share remarks during the Opening Reception on Saturday, January 18, at noon, and they are hosting a collaborative artmaking experience together on Thursday, February 13 at 6:00 PM. The show will conclude with a closing celebration on xyz date and time, with a performance by the Greater Lawrence Fellowship for the Arts.
