Creative Corner
The Essex Art Center’s atelier is a common space where parents and students alike can explore books and materials and view artwork by student and faculty artists. The materials change to reflect the mediums and ideas of the artists exhibiting in the EAC galleries and to keep the space energized with new visitors and ever-evolving activities. Inspired by the ateliers of the pre-schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy, the EAC’s atelier offers a space for open-ended creativity, discovery, and dialogue between people and materials, people and ideas, people and people. Whether a visitor creates their own work of art to take home, contributes to a collaborative one, or simply glances at a book to spark an idea, engaging with sensory materials and publications that foster creative thinking can help to further connect visitors to the EAC and their own interests.
