What is New Paint?
On Saturday June 5, 2010, 30 Artists will visit various sites in and around Lawrence and the Merrimack Valley area to paint. These 'New Paintings' will then be auctioned off that evening to benefit the outstanding arts education programs of the Essex Art Center. Since its inception in 1999, New Paint has drawn a wide variety of artists to Lawrence, capturing the history, growth, beauty and pride of the City and it's surrounding areas.
The Paintings
With only eight hours to paint their works on the day of the auction, many Artist scout out a location before the big day. The resulting works are a diverse representation of the area; including cityscapes, natural areas along the river, neighborhoods and more.
The Event
The 2010 New Paint Auction will be held in the artistically transformed lumberyard of Jackson Lumber & Millwork, a lifelong Lawrence resident itself, on June 5th, 6-11 p.m. A wonderful dinner is provided by "Two Chefs" Catering, and includes a wide selection of delicious entrees with live Music by the "White Street Band".
The Auction
All attendees will be given a number for which to bid on the "New Paint" paintings as well as a large selection of Silent Auction items, including art and many non-art items (Red Sox tickets and services). This year’s auctioneer is Matt Noyes, weatherman for NECN.

Proceeds for the event help support programming for youth of Greater Lawrence and this year a fraction of the money raised will help match a MCC Facility Grant to do renovations to the building.
Tickets
Tickets cost $50 in advance ($65 at the door) and can be purchased at the Essex Art Center, or online. All are welcome! Come celebrate the arts in the heart of the Merrimack Valley!
